Christmas Day 2020 saw the eagerly anticipated release of Bridgerton, a regency-era drama based on the popular books by Julia Quinn. Since then, over 82 million households have sat down and watched Netflix’s ‘biggest ever’ show.
Amongst the fabulous costumes, entertaining writing, talented acting and of course, the Duke, were some stunning backdrops and eye-catching locations, including various places in Bath and our very own Leigh Court.
Back in October 2019 we welcomed the Bridgerton cast and crew for filming. Over two weeks they transformed Leigh Court into a perfect setting for several key scenes, with our Great Hall and its stand out double staircase, being the noticeable feature that many viewers admired.
Bridgerton is not the first popular production to have been filmed at Leigh Court. Previously we’ve provided a location for the long running series Dr Who, medical drama Casualty, award-winning film Access All Areas and the hit BBC show Poldark.
Estate Manager Sam Shinner commented, “All of these productions wanted something different from Leigh Court, which we were happy to help make work for them.”
As well as many original regency-era features, including elaborate 19th Century ceilings and a breath-taking double staircase in the Great Hall, Leigh Court can also provide other benefits to a cast and crew on location, including close proximity to Bristol City Centre, easy access off the M5 motorway, a private car park for 200+ vehicles and 27 acres of private parklands.
Sam continued, “Leigh Court has a variety of rooms to suit the backdrop you need and we are experienced in working with television and film production companies to help bring their vision and ideas to life.”
