Claire recently joined the Leigh Court events team as an Events Co-ordinator. We caught up with her to find out more about her role and what she is looking forward to about working at Leigh Court.
Welcome to the team! Tell me more about your role at Leigh Court and your experience in the world of events?
Thank you! My role at Leigh Court includes the planning and running of a variety of events, both corporate and social. I work closely with clients in order to understand their requirements and liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure we deliver their vision. As for my experience, I have been in the hospitality industry for more years than I care to mention! I’ve worked for large hotel chains, and smaller, independent venues such as private country houses and a prestige barn, picking up various awards along the way.
What is your favourite type of event to work on?
This is a really difficult question for me to answer. As an events planner with over 20 years of experience within different types of venues, I have organised many different types of events, widely varying in size and scale.
From small conferences, team building events and product launches, right through to celebrity weddings, prestigious high profile award ceremonies and black-tie dinners. But I think my favourites are undoubtedly weddings, as I get an opportunity to play a part in a life changing event with the planning and delivery of each and every wedding, with each being as unique as the couple.
What do you think makes Leigh Court stand out as an events venue?
From the moment I walked up to the front door on my first day, I was blown away by the fabulous Palladian architecture. Then, walking through the doors, the Great Hall with its fantastic, sweeping staircase flanking the walls and framing the amazing pipe organ, you can’t help but be swept up in the grandeur of the venue. This, combined with the venue’s willingness to work with clients to deliver truly bespoke events, all adds up to make Leigh Court a very special place.
What are you most looking forward to about working at Leigh Court?
I am very much looking forward to working with a wide variety of clients on a vast array of different events. With the venue being so versatile, having an opportunity to work on events that utilise not only the house, such as weddings and conferences but also the grounds, such as team events and festivals is a really exciting prospect. The opportunity to spot a few celebrities this year, whilst filming occurs on different productions could also be seen as an added bonus!
If money was no object, what would be your dream event to hold at Leigh Court?
If money were no object, I’d love to hold my own Glastonbury style event, with the staging built around the steps of the house to make the house a fantastic backdrop for all my favourite acts to perform in front of. This would then be followed up with a large firework display, after which, my guests and I would then head indoors where DJ’s would keep the party going while we danced the night away in the Great Hall, breaking only to top up with cocktails at the cocktail bar.
